Going green in style

Green has been trending in menswear for a few years now. For most of us, we tend to stick to the standard field green, done up as a chore coat or safari jacket. But as we have discovered, the versatility of this color makes it a great option across the board. We’ve made several different fabrics in varying hues of green, so you can find the right shade.

Why is green such a hit these days? We reckon it’s the new gray, but with more attitude. Like gray, green is a tone that suits really any skin tone and occasion, but with a touch of boldness to it. It’s a color that says you’re not afraid to stand out, but you’ll also blend in just fine.

One of our favorite fabrics from our Eco-Evolution collection is Emerald OP 2120, in a phthalo green that’s ideal for a more formal look. There’s a richness to this colour tone that makes it great for anything from date night to a gala dinner. Wear it as a broken suit with a darker colored pant. This Italian plain weave Super 130s is designed to impress. It’s also crease-resistant, water resistant and stain repellent, so if you’re on a long trip and need a jacket that goes from the boardroom to the club, this is the right fabric for you.

For something a little more subdued, consider a fabric in pine needle or dark olive green like Stucco OP 2179 or Goblin OP 2178 (below). These are great colors for the warm summer or cool winter, easy to match with a light colored shirt and ideal for dressing down in just a casual polo. Darker green hues are truly versatile for your wardrobe. These shades of green are almost soothing to look at, and just the right tone for effortless cool.

For spring, summer and a more casual take on personal style, our green hopsack fabric Olive OP 1882 is an excellent choice. The livelier tone of this material matches well with the brighter colors you tend to see in those seasons, and adds a freshness to your outfit. You might also want to look at our cottons such as Sage Green OP 1936 or Juniper OP 1910. From safari-style jackets to gurkha pants, they are excellent for casual daily wear, highly durable and easily styled with other colors.

Green is versatile as a color for your wardrobe because it works with anything else in your wardrobe, whether it’s a mustard yellow camp collar shirt, a wild purple jacket or a chocolate brown suit jacket. It can both liven up your style, or tone it down depending on which hue you pick, and the season you’re wearing it in.
